FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 6, 2023

Mendon, UT - ASI Founder and CEO, Mel Torrie, had the honor of giving the commencement speech at Utah State University’s College of Engineering graduation ceremony of 2023.

ASI started 23 years ago when an intelligent systems research team at Utah State University broke off to start their own automation and robotics company. As a USU alumnus working in the field of automation, Mel Torrie is invested in the success of USU’s young graduates, who are the future of the industry.

Mel's speech covered themes helpful to new graduates and those already in the workforce alike. He shared his experiences in finding your own individual way to contribute to your field, working through hardships, and turning setbacks into opportunities.

The speech concluded with answers to common questions asked by new graduates: “Yes, the world really does need your unique contribution. Yes, there are ways to turn your perceived setbacks, your perceived weaknesses to strengths. And yes, you will use a lot of the stuff you learned at USU in your careers.”

ASI aims to inspire the next great minds in the field of automation through Mel’s speech as well as through its many innovations in intelligent systems.
